Missing libraries and tools or those you can help with

Introduction

After some discussion with a few other members we thought it might be an idea to start a thread where we can post about libraries or tools that we feel are missing. We could also use the thread to organise ourselves into working on any that we might want to get involved with.

We’ll try to keep this first post updated with any projects that get started as a result of the discussions here, with a name of those participating and a link to the github repo

Looking for contributers

OpenPantry
A management/user choice system for small-to-medium size food banks and pantry programs
Authors: bglusman komizutama
Repo: https://github.com/openpantry/open_pantry
Demo/preview: Guest mode on free heroku app

Google API Client - existing libraries are listed in the Google docs here and it would be awesome to see an Elixir library listed on that page!

Let’s Encrypt Client - a client library to support the Let’s Encrypt API (docs and existing clients). This standard is called ACME, so it should probably be named with ACME somewhere in the name to allow for easy finding.

Microsoft Graph API Client - the docs are here and the existing samples and SDK’s are here.

Over the course of the last few months, I’ve actually made quite a bit of progress on various Google API clients:

  • Goth — a library for authentication via Google Cloud APIs
  • Diplomat — a library for Google’s Cloud Datastore
  • Kane — a library for Google’s Pub/Sub

While at Elixir Conf, I spoke to an engineer who is who is on Google’s Ruby team about my libraries; my hope would be that they might at some point be christened the official Google libraries for Elixir, but only time will tell.

If you’re looking to use Google APIs in Elixir, please check out the above linked libraries and let me know what you think.

Can we treat this thread as a wishlist?

I thing an approval testing library would be very useful. The idea is explained in here: http://approvaltests.com/

I’m in the process of creating Blex, a developer focused blogging platform. Based on elixir and Phoenix.

Idea is to create a minimal, easy to install/deploy, fast blog platform primarily targeting developers. This means features like choice between automatic syntax highlighting or github gist creation, post series, tech stack used, linked github projects etc.

Looking for help on this, so if you are interested either send me a message here or on the elixir slack - @harrylucas (or tackle a feature on the issues page.

I’m far more lazy, I just use certbot on my debian server to update my nginx front-end certs. ^.^

There’s already CodeTriage that does this. up-for-grabs does the same, but is aimed specifically at newbies.
